Southern belle of the ball! Taylor Swift goes all out in huge scarlet gown as she arrives at the 47th annual CMAs in Nashville

They might not have the cool factor of the Grammy's or the VMAs, but the southern stars of the Country Music Awards certainly know how to make a glamorous entrance.
On Wednesday, Taylor Swift appeared to be channeling Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind as she arrived in a huge red gown.
Taylor is up for six potential accolades but will definitely be receiving the Pinnacle Award.

The gong is given to artists who have ahcieved worldwide success and recognistion through concerts and record sales.
The only other recipient of the award so far is Garth Brooks.
'I can't think of a better opportunity than 'Country Music's Biggest Night' to present an award of this magnitude to an artist of this caliber,' said CMA President of the Board Ed Hardy.

'I've known Taylor since she was 16. She came to my office with her mom to play her music and I was amazed. Taylor's outstanding career epitomizes the definition of the Pinnacle Award.'
Both Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert also wowed in their gowns as they sparkled on their way in to the bash.
The 47th anuual CMA Awards were held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, and some of the biggest stars of country music were in attendance.

Miranda - who recently showed off her new found weight loss - wowed in a sparkling blue dress which featured a very plunging neckline.
Matching her ensemble with a pair of vintage blue earrings, the singer also posed with her husband, country music star Blake Shelton.
Meanwhile Carrie looked like a fairytale princess in her gold and silver gown with lace detail.

Carrie is set to perform with singer Brad Paisley and the pair recently joked that they were leaving it until the last minute.
'We still don't know what we're doing,' Brad told ABC this week.
Modern country legend Sheryl Crow made a grande entrance looking absolutely flawless in a black gown.
The All I Wanna Do singer - who turned 51 this year - looked incredible with glimmering gold jewelery and her pushed back.

Arriving without his wife Nicole Kidman, was country star Keith Urban, who spoke about the current popularity of his genre of music.
'It's always gone in cycles, you know,' he said, and will perform the duet We Were Us with Miranda Lambert.
'We haven't had bands for a long time. That might be the next thing. You've got guys, and girls, and bands and then hats and ball caps, and then girls' mid-riffs, we go through everything.'

The 47th annual awards are hosted by Carrie and Brad Paisley.
Taylor Swift and newcomer Kacey Musgraves lead with six nominations each; Miranda Lambert has five.
Taylor is nominated for her third entertainer of the year award, the night's top honor, and already has two wins Wednesday with Tim McGraw and Urban after the CMA announced their Highway Don't Care collaboration won musical event and music video of the year.

And though it won't show on her official tally for the night, the 23-year-old pop star will be presented with the CMA's Pinnacle Award.
The award goes to artists who take country music to a worldwide audience. Garth Brooks is the only previous winner; he won in 2005.

Like Taylor, Miranda has been a darling of the 6,000 CMA voters with seven trophies since 2010.
With smart songwriting, a progressive bent and a strong sense of self like country's other top women, Kacey made an auspicious mainstream country debut this year with her album Same Trailer Different Park.

She's up for album, female vocalist, new artist and single of the year. And she scored two song of the year nominations for co-writing Miranda's hit Mama's Broken Heart and her own Merry Go `Round.
Kacey received the most nominations by a female artist in her debut year, and brought her grandmother Barbara Musgraves to the show to celebrate. Turns out Nana Barbara, who made the drive up from Mineola, Texas, was Kacey's first booking agent when she was 10.

Like Kacey, the fellas in Florida Georgia Line were thinking family on country music's big night. Turns out they're mama's boys after Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley brought their mothers, Amy Clotfelter and Mary Margaret Kelley.

Miranda, who will be going for her fourth straight female vocalist win, is up for single of the year and shares three nominations with her Pistol Annies trio.
There's no safe money on the winners this year. But at some point voters will begin acknowledging the so-called bro country movement - typified by hunky dudes often wearing ball caps and tight pants.
Platinum-tinged rising acts like Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line rule the radio with coolers full of cold ones and good vibes.

Meanwhile, veteran George Strait is going for his third entertainer of the year award as he retires from the road, and Bob Dylan is the co-writer on song-of-the-year nominee 'Wagon Wheel' with Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show.
Voters could easily make an argument for any of the five entertainer of the year nominees.
Blake Shelton is a five-time nominee who only seems to get more popular. Jason Aldean is about due for the award as a major architect of country's modernization and a touring titan.

And Bryan is arguably country's hottest star after winning the rival Academy of Country Music's entertainer trophy in April and putting out 2013's best-selling album in the genre.
All of the entertainer of the year nominees will perform with Strait, joining Alan Jackson to salute the late George Jones.
The Zac Brown Band will be joined by Foo Fighter Dave Grohl, Hunter Hayes has invited Jason Mraz to perform during the three-hour show and most of country's biggest stars will take the stage.
The CMA also will pay tribute to Kenny Rogers.
